5 Best Movies of the Year (So Far)

slide

Can you believe we’re more than halfway through 2018?

So far, we’ve seen some great movies at O’Neil Cinemas Littleton, MA at The Point and in Epping, NH in Brickyard Square. We’re listing our favorite movies of the year so far. What’s your favorite?

Best Movies of 2018 (So Far)

A Quiet Place

One of the loudest movies of the year barely makes a peep on screen. In this film, Emily Blunt and John Krasinski play a couple with children who live in an apocalyptic world where monsters kill people based on sound. People are already talking about Blunt in the Best Actress Oscar race.

Avengers: Infinity War

The biggest movie of the year (and one of the biggest of all time) set the tone for the next Avengers film with quite the cliffhanger. Is it 2019 yet?

Black Panther

This Marvel film proved to be the perfect lead-in for Infinity War when it premiered in February and had longevity at the box office. It broke records, and at 97 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, is one of the highest rated MCU movies of all time. T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman), the King of Wakanda, rises to the throne in the isolated, technologically advanced African nation, but his claim is challenged by a vengeful outsider (Michael B. Jordan) who was a childhood victim of T’Challa’s father’s mistake.

Incredibles 2

Mr. Incredible is a stay-at-home-dad when Elastigirl has to go off to work. Critics are saying that parents watching this film will feel just as empowered as their kids.

Paddington 2

100% on Rotten Tomatoes is nearly unheard of, but this film earned just that, and—bonus—we’ll be showing it again as part of our Summer Kids Series on Monday, July 23 and Wednesday, July 25. Tickets for kids 11 and under are $1, $2 for all other ages.

In this sequel, Paddington, now happily settled with the Brown family and a popular member of the local community, picks up a series of odd jobs to buy the perfect present for his Aunt Lucy’s 100th birthday, only for the gift to be stolen.

Upcoming 2018 Movies

Just because some of the best movies of the year have already come out doesn’t mean the best isn’t yet to come. Here are some other highly anticipated movies coming out later this year:

Christopher Robin – August 3

Crazy Rich Asians – August 15

Venom – October 5

Bohemian Rhapsody – November 2

Creed 2 – November 21
