9 Things That Happen at Every Oscar Ceremony

Come to O’Neil Cinemas The Point Oscar Party!

O’Neil Cinemas at The Point in Littleton is excited to be hosting its first-ever Oscar party on Sunday, March 4 at 7 p.m. We’ll be showing the televised ceremony on our giant video wall in the Backstage Lounge bar and restaurant!

This is the 90th Academy Awards, and while every live broadcast is different (last year’s La La Land/Moonlight Best Picture mix-up DEFINITELY wasn’t planned), there are some things you can always expect at every Academy Awards event.

9 Things That Happen at Every Oscar Ceremony

1. Someone says, “And the Oscar goes to. . .”

2. Someone’s speech gets cut off with exit music.

3. The camera pans to an actor/actress laughing at the host’s joke.

4. The camera pans to an actor/actress NOT laughing at the host’s joke.

5. Someone in their speech says hello to their children or tells them to go to bed.

6. Everyone gets really sentimental and sad during the In Memoriam section, and it fades to black at the end.

7. Someone on stage says something that everyone agrees with, which garners a lot of applause.

8. Legendary actors we haven’t seen in years turn out for the ceremony and get a standing ovation.

9. Meryl Streep will be there (she’s been nominated 21 times!).

Find out if all of these things happen at this year’s 90th Academy Awards at O’Neil Cinemas at The Point in Littleton’s first-ever Oscar Party on Sunday, March 4 at 7 p.m. Fancy attire is encouraged, especially for when taking photos on our red carpet (we may have a couple of surprise “celebrity” cut-out appearances for your pics). We’ll also be serving up food and drink specials and a chance to win a $50 gift card (whoever has the most predictions correct on their Oscar ballot)!
